Terms of Service

Effective September 17, 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and life, inc.(“life”, “we”, “us”) for your use of the life website and app (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use life for a business, you agree on its behalf and confirm you’re authorized to.

1. What life is — and isn’t

life is a software platform. Homeowners use it to keep records, manage expenses and utilities, and find and book service providers. Service businesses use it to run scheduling, invoicing, team, compliance records, and other back-office work. AI assistants (Alfred, Bruce, and assistants you create) help with all of it.

life is not a party to the work.Service providers on life are independent businesses — not our employees, agents, or subcontractors. We don’t perform, supervise, direct, or guarantee their services. Any contract for services is between the homeowner and the provider. Unless a profile expressly says otherwise, we have not background-checked a provider or independently verified their licenses or insurance; ratings, scorecards, and documents shown are provided by users and providers. Use your own judgment, and verify licensing and insurance for work that requires it.

life does not give professional advice. Tax worksheets, estimates, cost-basis summaries, lien waivers, insurance claim drafts, replacement-cost projections, and similar outputs are preparation aids, not tax, legal, accounting, insurance, engineering, or financial advice, and are not filings. Have a qualified professional review them before you rely on or file them.

2. Accounts

3. The assistants and AI output

4. Connected accounts

You may connect third-party accounts (for example Gmail, Google Calendar, QuickBooks, or Buffer). You authorize life and its assistants to access and act in those accounts as you direct, and you confirm you have the right to grant that access. Those services are governed by their own terms, and we’re not responsible for them. You can disconnect at any time in Settings → Abilities.

5. Bookings, payments, and fees

6. Subscriptions and usage

7. Payroll

If a business enables payroll: payroll processing, tax calculation, withholding, filing, and disbursement are provided by Check Technologies, Inc. (“Check”) under Check’s own terms, which you accept when you enable it. life provides the interface only. We are not a payroll processor, money transmitter, tax preparer, employer of record, or fiduciary, and payroll funds never pass through accounts we own or control. You’re responsible for the accuracy of employee information, hours, rates, and worker classification; for funding approved payroll; and for reviewing each run before approving it — approval is an irreversible instruction to move money. We’re not responsible for errors in tax computation, withholding, filing, or remittance.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of what you put into life. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, and display it solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to carry out your instructions — including sending it to the AI model providers and other processors described in the Privacy Policy. You’re responsible for having the rights to what you upload, including photos, documents, and information about other people such as team members or clients.

Ratings and reviews must reflect a genuine experience with a job done through life. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

10. Property records and hand-offs

Access notes you store — codes, keys, lock credentials — are shared with the providers and caretakers you book or appoint so they can do the work. Store only what you’re comfortable sharing that way, and change codes when a relationship ends. A property hand-off link transfers that property’s records to whoever accepts it; treat it like a key.

11. Beta features

life is in early access. Features labeled beta, preview, or “coming soon” may change, break, or be withdrawn, and are provided as-is.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using life and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or don’t pay amounts due. Sections that by their nature should survive — including payment obligations, disclaimers, limits of liability, and dispute terms — survive termination.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIFE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON’T WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE OR ANY AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY SERVICE PROVIDER IS LICENSED, INSURED, QUALIFIED, OR WILL PERFORM AS EXPECTED.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIFE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, OR FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY ARISING FROM SERVICES PERFORMED BY A SERVICE PROVIDER. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID LIFE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE AND (B) $100. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

15. Indemnity

You’ll defend and indemnify life against third-party claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your content, your breach of these Terms or the law, or — if you’re a service provider — the services you perform and your relationships with your workers and clients.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, each of us agrees to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting the other and negotiating in good faith for 30 days. After that, the state and federal courts located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts have exclusive jurisdiction, and we each consent to venue there. Either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we’ll give notice in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.

18. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Notices to you may be sent to your account email.
